What technology do you use to 'stay in touch' and why?
The technology I use the most to stay in touch is my cell phone. Of course I use it to make and recieve phone calls, but I also use it for texting. When I want to make sure my message will get recieved and responded to, I send texts to my friends and family. It's easier to get a hold of people at night (when they're not at school or working) but my phone is my primary way of keeping in touch. E-mail is also really important to me, but its use is more for my academic and professional life. I'm seriously considering whether to start using FaceBook because it's such a great way to contact people I've lost touch with and a lot of my friends use to share pictures. But we'll see!
Yes texts have a much better rate of being returned, even more than voice mails. As for the Face Book thing, all I have to say is don't get sucked in.
ReplyDeleteI agree that texting and email are my main ways to keep in touch as well. They are the fastest and easiest technologies to use. I have a Facebook, but rarely go on it. Most of my communication is through texting, not Facebook.
ReplyDeleteMost of my communication is done on facebook. I find myself using it more than email, which seems to be a growing trend with my friends and family also. I have noticed a significant decrease in the "forwarded" emails I used to get from them. I now get comments or messages from them on facebook. I have connected with a lot of my old friends and family, that I would probably not have been able to get in touch with using phone or email. Plus I find out about things happening with people a lot faster. I have no complaints about facebook, it has been a good communication tool for me.
